Description

User-friendly, classic fuzz tones, with or without octave-up effect.

ODIN takes one of the best octave-up fuzz circuit designs of all time, strips away all the fluff and over-engineering and leaves you with a simple, yet powerful device. Turn it on and you are greated by a wonderful, saggy, yet open and carefully compressed fuzztone, not too dissimilar from the old smiley-faced fuzz boxes we’ve all tried to love. This one however is louder, more mids-forward, less compressed and just a joy to work with.

Click ODIN into octave mode with the secondary foot switch and you now have one of the best octave up fuzzes on the market roaring from your speakers. It’s really loud and it’s tuned to let your guitar jump out of any mix without getting pointy and harsh.

The two fuzzes are entirely discrete designs within the box, making switching between them a seemless experience, not usually something you’ll find with this type of circuit. Making the two channels independent also made it possible to choose components to specifically suit each side.

New for Autumn 2021 is the addition of individual gain controls for each channel.

I did this for two reasons: you can now remove the control plate if you ever wish to clean or polish it, and a bunch of people have been asking for gain controls, so there you go!

You’re welcome.

Have fun!

Useful specs:

Power with 9VDC, centre tip negative. Same as Boss Pedals. Easy.

Current draw is quite high as I'm using logic based relay switching.

Prior to mid May 2021 all ODINs shipped had a current consumption of a little less than 300mA with both switches engaged. In mid May I moved from Fujitsu Takamisawa relays to Omron relays. These do the exact same job, but draw much less current:

Idle: ~15mA

One foot switch engaged: ~70mA

Both foot switches engaged: ~120mA

ODIN uses an input stage that shares that sweet cleanup and loading feature as smiley-faced fuzzes. While usually I find that buffers are OK in front of ODIN, Wahs require a buffer between them and ODIN.

Some wireless receivers also mess with the input on ODIN, but who uses those in 2021?

For safe travelling, stick ODIN first in line. Your Wah sounds better this way anyway! Fight me!

All Fjord Fuzz pedals come with a lifetime warranty. I will always repair or replace your Fjord Fuzz, no matter what you did to ruin it. I will not replace pedals due to cosmetic issues however. Also please beware that the control plates are all unique, some may come very shiny and pretty, others may already have corrosion on them. They are fully removable and you can polish them whenever you want. No refunds will be issued due to corroding copper. Copper corrosion is a natural occurrence and completely unavoidable. It's due to the Earth's atmosphere being made up of some oxygen. Oxygen is very reactive. It's what breaths life into animals and mushrooms across the globe. It's a beautiful thing. Deadly, yet the foundation of existence.
