- Tuners swapped from Schallers to Gotohs,
- Aftermarket knobs and pick guard
- Krivos floating pickup replaced with a much superior Kent Armstrong Hand wound i.e. made by Kent.
The El Rey features a 16-inch solid spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, and a hollowbody thinline design measuring 2 1/4 inches deep.

Neck Material: Mahogany with a traditional even C-profile.
Fingerboard: Ebony with a 12" radius and 22 Jescar frets.
